Interleukin Genetics - Empowering health

DNA Testing Laboratory Operations

Interleukin Genetics has built an on-site, state-of-the-art, high throughput DNA testing laboratory that is certified under the Clinical Laboratories Improvements Act (CLIA).  Following a May 2009 expansion and upgrade, including additional equipment and staff to enable the laboratory to improve turnaround time for test results and increase efficiencies, the Interleukin Testing Laboratory is capable of handling a substantial volume of DNA samples.  The company processes tests for partners and its Inherent Health brand genetic tests.

The laboratory is staffed by technicians and scientists who developed substantial laboratory operations experience prior to joining Interleukin.  Patricia Murphy, Ph.D., FACMG, is the Laboratory Director.

Interleukin's DNA testing laboratory includes a Class 8 clean room and the latest robotics and analytical instruments available from a leading instrument supplier to ensure the highest accuracy in sample analysis.

The laboratory is firmly committed to the highest quality of service to its customers.  As part of that service, it adheres to strict standards of privacy.  Test results are reported only to the consumer who provided the sample and the designated physician.  The company destroys the sample soon after testing, and it retains test results in a manner that satisfies or exceeds all relevant regulatory standards.

To conduct a genetic risk assessment test, the consumer collects cells from inside the cheek on a brush and submits it by mail to our laboratory.  Our clinical laboratory then performs the test following our specific protocol and informs the consumer and, depending on the regulations in the particular state or (in Canada) province, the customer’s designated health care provider, of the results.
